Lepers Let Down
On a night of most troubled sleep,
I dreamt of an unwelcome visit to my keep,
Finding myself in a most dim and quiet place,
Misery and fatigue upon my face,
Chance's gift I heard my lift,
...moving in the night,
one flight,
two flight,
Three flight,
My right,
Eye twitched,
...and my mind switched slightly on,
Now both tired and scared, the liftgate opened,
But I was awoken only just...
While my room filled with an intense, pungent, stinking must,
It was surely two men that emerged from the pen,
But shorter and now on my left,
Close to me now,
... I was wondering how
... I would thwart this attempted theft.
I took to my feet and, retreating in fright,
From these hideous men,
Grotesque to the sight,
My mind was asleep, and my body was weak,
I lunged at the men and said
GET OUT FREAKS!
Though low and unnerving, my voice was not serving
my cause and there they stood,
They bid me 'come hear it, come buy us a spirit. Do it now! We wish you would!' More dwarfs than men with skin like scales,
And no way to know them as creatures or males.
Not getting the point, I muttered, 'get out of this joint!'
I threw one back...
The other attacked,
It was time for the fun!
I reached for my gun,
He lunged,
I shot,
Not once,
But a lot,
The other crouched on the floor,
He saw his friend dead,
He looked over at me...
I shot him in the head
Dropping the heat,
I fell back on a seat,
I called the police. 'I shot two men dead!'
I hung up the phone and thought, 'what have I said?'
