An idealistic diplomat has been pushing his leaders to intervene militarily in a region plagued by constant, internecine conflict. “Humanitarian mediation is the only way to end the bloodshed and create a stable, unified government that our people can support with advanced organization and technology.”

They’ve been monitoring the situation and gathering intelligence for a long time.

Lately, the situation has become increasingly dire. The surveillance team recorded moments of the humans shouting complaints at the news screens about their many wars and incompetent politicians. “God damn it, what a disaster! I wish freaking aliens would invade!”

The diplomat delivered the message to his planet’s ruler. He was sympathetic. “Good enough for me!” He commanded his generals to “Conquer Earth now!”

Humanity was made submissive and peaceful by mighty alien overlords.

“We’re saved!”

For years, we toiled under their blundering stewardship. But eventually, pockets of resistance all over the globe banded together and cast them out in a war of independence! The extraterrestrials fled, leaving a united human race and one world government and accomplishing their own goal at their expense.

And that is the only way there will ever be world peace.
