July and August 2023 themes

1. America sent cluster bombs to Ukraine as a tool to break through the minefields laid by Russia to conquer the territory they annexed. (This week, it blew up in our face.)

2. In technology, the changing face of war in the 21st century - it’s gonna be fought with a lot of drones and other equipment to surveil the enemy and smash their infrastructure. Blood will still be needed. Deaths of the young and the poor. You might call it virgin sacrifice. You still win by killing and maiming people. That’s the whole point - victory through terror. 

3. Wagner/Russian economic, political, and military influence in Africa. It looks like Viktor Bout’s legacy. He was such an effective merchant of death - “Here are some guns and grenades for your diamonds. No, I do not care who you kill with them. That concludes our business. Thank you. Now I need to go do a deal with your rivals. Have a nice day.” (Sort of like that)

4. Signs of things to come in Israel: Protests against Bibi’s plans to become the dictator of his small patch of land. America is pushing Israel and Saudi Arabia to get all chummy. It will blow up in all our faces on October 7th.
